Patches, Badges and Pins. Does Age Still Matter In Fashion? February 1, 2017 – Posted in: Fashion
The past few years, we are seeing a lot of fun trends come and go by. From the colourful pompoms, flirty bell sleeves to seventies chic or was it the nineties? Whatever it is, we saw and conquered them all. Comfy sneakers escalated to the fashion front, we saw the rise and fall of Normcore, the rebirth of Athleisure and where did the pencil heels go to? The fashion industry was putting the fun back in fashion and we loved every second of it.
But there is always that one trend that stands out as a clear winner, and for us, it’s the Patchwork trend. This trend, so reminiscent of the late 80s and early 90s that it takes us back to our childhood days when we stuck patches, stickers on every blank space we could find. When the patches made a swooping comeback this year, we were thrilled and well, a little confused. We sure loved how they took us back memory lane but we couldn’t help but wonder if we were too old for this trend. How do you wear these sticker patches if you’re, say, in your late twenties or early thirties? Does age matter when it comes to fashion? The answer is an obvious No. Almost every designer and brand were slapping patches on their SS2016 collection and we were soaking it all in.
If you’re still not convinced, here are the reasons why the patchwork trend is for keeps:
1. You can easily make one. (Hello, DIY skills and YouTube Tutorials)
2. You can bring your old clothes back to life by simply pinning them on.
3. You can create your own design and style statement.
4. Looking quirky has never been easier.
5. You can play around with embroidered patches, iron-on patches or enamel pins.
