In Jeans News: The Hemline Is Dead! February 3, 2017 – Posted in: Fashion – Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Gone are the days when you needed polished jeans cut to perfection to fit you like a second skin. With the all new (or old) denim trend, you have one less thing to worry about – alteration. Why? Cause the hemline don’t exist no more! Rejoice!

This season is all about raw edges, frayed and fringed hemlines that have made clean run-off-the-mill stitched hemlines almost non-existent. As you all know, fashion thrives on recycling and cycling the old to create something fresh. A testimonial of the past, in favour of the new. Needless to say, the raw hemline trend is reminiscent of the 90s grunge era.

There is something unusually cool about the deconstructed raw hem that gives new life to an otherwise ordinary pair of jeans. And the best part? It is SO easy to DIY. Whether it’s a shirt, jeans or a skirt, you can deconstruct and reconstruct almost anything…something effortlessly chic about how these deconstructions give such a character and make these pieces a statement in itself. Kinda like how our imperfections and flaws are what make us beautiful. *Ting*

And yes, it’s totally understandable that there are some of us who just can’t give up clean cut looks and who get a weird creek on our necks whenever we see uneven untidy hemlines. But here’s the good news. You have the freedom to stick to freshly cut hemlines with little or no fraying or you can go all the way and unleash the rocker in you by excessive shredding and pairing it with badass band tees. Right? Right?. Either way, there is no going wrong.
